Abortion can leave behind deep regret, shame, and emotional and spiritual pain.
But your past does not have to define your future.
If you’re walking through the pain and shame, today’s post on healing after abortion is for you.
God’s Forgiveness after Abortion
Let’s face it:
Some people are not sorry for what they did, but if you are full of regret and walking around with shame, I want you to be encouraged today.
Romans 8:1 tells us there is now no more condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. That means God is not condemning you; Jesus already paid for your sins, and that includes abortion. It’s time for you to stop beating yourself up over what you did. Embrace the forgiveness that God has given you and let His love restore you.
I know the battle can be extremely hard because the devil will try everything possible to keep reminding you about what you did, but remember, Jesus told the Pharisees, “Let him who has not committed any sin be the first to throw the stone.”
And then He told the adulterous woman to go and sin no more. John 8
The same is true about you; you are forgiven, and Jesus wants you to go and sin no more.
I believe that it is so important for us to know we are forgiven, but we also need to understand that abortion has its physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual consequences.
The Spiritual Consequences of Abortion
When we choose to go for an abortion, we tend to think of the physical and maybe the emotional bit of it, like, “How would people perceive me?” “The person in question does not want that baby.” “I don’t have the finances to help me take care of my child when it comes.” And the reasons can be so many.
But what we do not always focus on when making difficult choices like this in life is the spiritual bit of it, which is so important.
Life in itself is spiritual, so we cannot just choose what to do and how to live life without thinking of the spiritual bit of it.
Now, this is not meant to make you feel ashamed but to bring awareness.
When we abort—and I’m not just talking about the girls only, but also even the men who encourage their women to abort—that act not only brings about guilt and shame, but it also brings spiritual heaviness because we unknowingly open spiritual doors that cause us to end up living in cycles of defeat and shame.
In fact, if some of us are honest, our lives have never been the same because we try to do things in our lives, but they keep aborting before full manifestation.
And yes, someone can say that it is just a coincidence, but again, the spirit realm controls the physical.
There are doors that need to close through repentance and healing so that we can live freely. Thankfully, Jesus can close those doors and bring freedom into our lives if we let Him.
The Spirit of Molech: A Deeper Look
In Leviticus 18:21, God gave the children of Israel an instruction about not letting any of their children pass through the fire to Molech.
Molech was a pagan god that was associated with child sacrifice.
This spirit still operates today, and not just in child sacrifices but also in things like abortion. In the modern day, abortion may look like a medical procedure or, as some people say, a preventative means, but that is not the way it works in the spiritual realm.
Now, I feel I need to clarify this:
There are instances where women have to go through medical procedures because the fetus is growing abnormally; I’m not talking about that.
This spirit was not just an operation in the Old Testament; it is still in operation today. When we abort, we also open up doors for things to be aborted in our lives in terms of our dreams, destiny, calling, and the life that God has planned for us.
The enemy wants to destroy what God plants, and so he’s going to use your past against you, and that is why some of us are living in cycles of defeat.
Maybe it is showing up in your career. You’ve been working hard and showing up, but things are just not working out. It could be a relationship or in our finances. Take time to audit your life and see if this is true. Whenever you are at a point of getting a promotion, something happens, and you find yourself struggling again.
Make sense?
If you had an abortion, chances are the devil is using that against you to abort things in your life, and it’s time for you to deal with this issue, first of all, by repenting and asking God for forgiveness for what you did. Then, forgive yourself for what you did because oftentimes people ask God for forgiveness, but the challenge comes in when you need to forgive yourself.
You need to believe that God has truly forgiven you and you’re free from your past shame and sins, and that includes the sin of abortion.
There’s nothing too big for God not to forgive.
Remember, Satan wants to destroy your life, but Jesus came to restore you according to John 10:10, and so you need to be intentional about living an abundant life. You have to fight from a point of victory, knowing that you’ve been forgiven and God has restored you, and therefore, the devil has no right to use the past against you.
God Rebuilds What Was Lost
The time for you to live in cycles of defeat and shame is over. God is not holding the past against you; you are forgiven of your past, present, and future sins.
It is time for you to stop living in condemnation and invite God into your healing journey. Ask Him to restore what was broken when you went through that procedure. Surrender your pain and shame to Him.
Healing is a process; you won’t start feeling alive and good and seeing abundance immediately.
It will take time, and the devil will try so hard to fight against your restoration, but you need to stand firm in the Word, knowing that God loves you and He will never leave you nor forsake you.
God wants to restore the years that the devil has stolen from you. Everything that has been aborted in your life is going to be restored.
If you’re carrying pain from the past, take a deep breath and remember, God’s mercy runs deeper than your mistake. His love still calls your name.
