There are two groups of people in this world, and there are only two eternal destinies.
One group will spend eternity with God.
The other will spend eternity separated from Him.
The question is, where do you belong?
It doesn’t matter how successful you are, how much you own, how kind people think you are, or how many good works you’ve done. None of these things can save us. What matters most is whether we have placed our faith in Jesus Christ.
Luke 23:39–43 tells the story of Jesus and the two criminals who were crucified beside Him. Though both had lived sinful lives, each was given an opportunity to accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.
One rejected Him.
The other acknowledged his sin, recognized Jesus as Lord, and simply asked, “Jesus, remember me when You come into Your kingdom.”
Jesus answered him,
“Truly I tell you, today you will be with Me in paradise.”
This story reminds us that every one of us must make a decision about where they will spend eternity.
The truth is that we are all sinners saved by grace. None of us is perfect. We have all fallen short of God’s glory, and every one of us needs a Savior.
That Savior is Jesus Christ.
Though He was completely without sin, Jesus willingly gave His life on the cross for ours. He died in our place, was buried, and rose again so that everyone who believes in Him can receive forgiveness, be reconciled to God, and have the gift of eternal life.
No matter what your past looks like or what mistakes you’ve made, God’s invitation is still open. If you are reading these words today, His grace is still reaching toward you. Jesus loves you, and He is calling you to Himself.
The gospel is beautifully simple:
- We are sinners in need of a Savior.
- We cannot save ourselves.
- Jesus Christ died for our sins and rose again.
- Jesus alone has the power to save.
- We are called to repent, believe the gospel, and follow Him.
- By faith, we receive God’s gift of salvation and become His children.
A Prayer of Repentance
If you have never given your life to Jesus Christ, or if you would like to return to Him today, you can pray this prayer sincerely from your heart.
Heavenly Father,
I come before You today, acknowledging that I am a sinner and have fallen short of Your glory. I cannot save myself, and I need Your forgiveness.
I believe that Jesus Christ is Your Son, that He died on the cross for my sins, and that He rose again so that I could have eternal life.
Today I repent of my sins and turn away from my old way of living. Please forgive me, cleanse me, and make me a new creation in Christ.
Jesus, I receive You as my Lord and my Savior. Help me to follow You, obey Your Word, and grow in my relationship with You each day. Fill me with Your Holy Spirit and lead me according to Your will.
Thank You for forgiving me, saving me, and adopting me into Your family.
In Jesus’ name,
