Ever find yourself battling doubt even though you know that God has told you to start that blog, book, or social media page?
Same here.
There are moments when I struggle with doubt so much. I find myself questioning the revelation God has given me and wondering whether I am doing the right thing.
Sometimes I’m so excited about writing, but there are moments I wonder if I’m making a big mistake. Will this ever bear fruit, or am I just wasting my time?
I believe I’m not alone in this. We battle doubt from time to time.
Even in the Bible, we see people like Abraham battling with doubts. In one moment, we see Abraham in the presence of God, who promises him a child with Sarah, but then he agrees to have a child with Hagar.
But even as we fight with all these doubts, we need to understand that God keeps his word; He is a faithful God. He tells us in his word that he watches over his word, and whatever God says will not return to him void. It will accomplish that which it is sent for to do.
As long as God is the one who directed you to start writing, it doesn’t matter what things look like; it doesn’t matter whether you have no audience; they are going to come at the right time.
God’s timing is not the same as ours
We want things to happen instantly, but sometimes God wants to take us through a process that may involve you showing up and writing consistently, but there are no likes or comments on your posts for a certain period of time. And this is not to punish us, but it is to strengthen us so that we can learn how to show up for an audience of one, that is, Jesus Christ.
At the end of it all, we need to remember that we’re doing this for Jesus, not for ourselves, not for man. When we grow strong in this area, it is going to be difficult for us to stray away from our calling when people start showing up, and the number of comments increases.
God’s process is not always easy
There will be moments of doubt and frustration. We may not like the route God will take us through as writers, but our work is to trust and obey Him no matter what.
No matter where you are in this season, always remind yourself that God will accomplish that which is started. He told you to start that blog or book, and He’s going to help you finish it.
He will also connect you to the right people who will support you; so be patient and trust His timing.
Prepare for what God has promised you in faith.
Stop comparing your journey with others and keep moving forward no matter what it looks like.
